A tale of two days

Ok, what a difference a day makes. Two days ago some friends wanted us to go to dinner. I said fine as long as we can go somewhere that I can eat healthy. We picked a restaurant, I made a plan, stayed within my calorie allowance and all was right with the world.

Last night however, friends came over to watch the game and we had hamburgers. That's fine, but I ate the chips; still not too bad (I only had a few, still within my calorie allowance).

BUT THEN: I made a cobbler for my friends STILL ok cause I made a small one and had a tiny bit STILL WITHIN MY LIMITS but then came the ice cream, a piece of cake that my daughter made and ... it all went to hell! Things began to snowball out of control.

Part of the problem was sending my honey to get ice cream for the cobbler. I had intended for him to get a small container, but being a man he got the 5 gallon vat because it was only 25 cents more. Surprise, surprise ... he's skinny. Always has been; always will be. He doesn't understand get only what you need. AND HE GOT COOKIES AND CREAM! I LOVE COOKIES AND CREAM! IT'S LIKE FREAKIN....KRYPTONITE!!!!!

Anyway, I sent my daughter to the store for ice. She came home with cake mix. UGH!!!!

So this is what I have learned.
1. I have a serious problem with food!
2. Having a plan works.
3. Having a plan only works if you STICK TO THE PLAN!!
4. Never send your skinny husband to the store for ANYTHING!
5. Teenagers will try to avoid ever being asked to go to the store for you anymore if they
bring home what you asked for PLUS cake mix!
6. Next time you make a dessert....forget the ice cream .... use the ff/sf cool whip!!!!

Lesson Learned. Climbing back on the wagon. emoticon

    Extra challenges with a skinny hubby and teen who shops and cooks.. You have to make choices and pay attention to portion size and make sure you track it all. You can have a small piece of cake, and about 1/2 cup of ice cream. Is it light ice cream at least? i've found that the slow churned 1/2 fat kind is just as good and sometimes better than regular and so much healthier for you! And you know, if you go over one night, try to make better choices the next day. That's all you can really do.. Hang in there!

    Hehe, I know all about sending teens to the store. It always cost more - the inevitable "well, if I have to walk there, I should be able to get an iced tea" or "I'll go if I can get cookies too!"
