Officially Goofy Race Report III: WDW Marathon & The Day After

Sunday, January 15, 2012

It's been a few days, and I was waiting in hopes that my brightroom photo downloads would be delivered to me before I posted. But since they're NOT - I guess the photographers are taking their sweet time getting them together, I'll go ahead and post my written blog with personal and photopass photos (but no race photos YET). The WDW Marathon was incredible, everything I hoped it would be and then some! And I got a wonderful surprise too...a marathon PR AND sub-five hour time! It was physically VERY difficult in the last 8 or so miles, but I pulled through and got it done, and I will remember this weekend forever! I had such a positive experience with GOOFY that I'm planning to repeat it all in 2013 :)

Yes, I know I'm crazy, LOL!

Here are the final two pieces to my race report, the marathon and the day after, which I spent in the parks. Check back later for the actual race photos!

Hi. You had commented on mine and I just read through your marathon recap. I didn't do Goofy but running through Epcot at the end, I kept trying to NOT cry - I was getting very choked up as well. When I finally saw my husband I did cry a little when I hugged him. I can only imagine how emotional it would be to finish Goofy :)

I started in corral D too!! I think your 13.1 split was just 1 minute diff from mine :)

RB, what can I say. You are a rockstar and you earned it! You had a glimpse of an idea nd said...hmmm...let me ponder this. Then you made the decision to do Goofy and you put the $$$ where you r mouth was and did it. That is gutsy, lady. You knew your heart and your dreams. You did it. I would reckon to say that you will never be the same again. Then, you did it in grand style with PR's. That is amazing.

You were so heavily on my mind and offered prayers for your Goofy journey. Please know God was with you every step of the way. That is powerful.

You know that you have always been one step ahead of me and that is because I take notes from your experiences. To me, that is priceless. I thank you for allowing me to be a part of your life. I am very honored.

Savor this moment, RB. You just accomplished something that is truly incredible and you did it in style.

    Congratulations, my dear dear friend.
