First week of classes...and no meltdowns!
Friday, January 27, 2012
I have to admit that I was worried about school this week. Not the classes you see but the eating around the schedule. I get super busy when school is in session. Being a mother, a student, a volunteer, etc. puts a huge strain on being able to sit down during the day to enjoy a relaxing fulfilling meal.
Yet I did it! I didn't go on an eating spree induced by the stress of having over 200 pages to read in a few days. It's not pleasure reading either. Try sifting your way through a thesis that critiques rhetorical critiques. It's what intrigues and inspires me so I sift through it with love. Yet it's taxing and it tires my brain like nothing else. Typically when my brain is tired I like to snack.
I was able to put that snack monster back in it's place! I actually was behind in some of my nutrients this week. So instead of going overboard I actually fell over the rails. I'm climbing back on the boat today and am going to try to plan out better meals. I had some good ideas that I need to build a little more on. I can do this now that I have a better feel for what my schedule will be like in the next couple of months.
Even though it's only my first week back to school; I see a big improvement in my mood and thinking abilities. Exercise and eating well are so helpful to academic pursuits. I hope all of my fellow classmates are getting enough rest and nutrition to carry them through the semester.
Keep on sparking on fellow sparkers! We may get busy at times yet we can do this!
