Busy Week/Quiet Saturday...

Sunday, February 05, 2012

Hi All,

After spending a very busy week, today was spent quietly. I had no energy and found I needed extra rest and sleep. I only did what I needed to do but nothing extra.

I looked after my 2 year old grandson this week, went to the African Children's Choir on Tuesday, before the concert I helped with the set-up and food prep and served the kids and their chaperon's, there was 30 kids and several chaperon's. What a blessing it was, after dinner each child and chaperon came up and gave me and the other servers a big hug with a hearty thanks and big smile on their faces. Wow, what a blessing indeed.

On Thursday I baked 2.5 dozen cookies in preparation for a Funeral Tea. On Friday I attended the Funeral/Tea at our Church. Last week a dear brother and friend went home to be with Jesus after complications from cancer. He is now free from pain and is in the presence of his Savior. We will surely miss "Mitch" at Seniors luncheon and at all our Services and outings, he had a great sense of humor and had a big heart. He was loved by all. I met his brother and sister for the first time, what a blessing they are, Mitch's sister sure has a heart for Jesus and is an awesome witness..It was a pleasure meeting them and other friend's of the family.

So after all these activities, it finally caught up with me so today was a very quiet day.

I look forward to tomorrow at Church and will spend my Sunday quiet as well. Hope you all have a great Sunday, God's Blessings as always. Thanks for your friendship, let's continue to Spark On and Shine for Jesus!

Hi Judith, you certainly are busy! I have been to more than my share of funerals and always appreciate the Funeral Tea! It is a great time for family and friends to sit and share stories of their loved ones life. I think it is an important step in the grieving process. You provide a very important service, thanks for your community service!

To explain a Funeral/Tea, is first we have the Funeral, which includes the Service, Pastor brings a short message, sometimes the service is opened to those present to share personal stories to remember the deceased, then there is sometimes a graveside service with interment. After the Family and those who came to the funeral are invited back to the Church for a Luncheon/Tea, the church usually provides the food for the Family and those in attendance. Hope this explains what a Funeral/Tea is all about.

Glad you got some rest. I have never heard of a funeral tea. Sounds like a nice way to celebrate someone going home to be with Jesus.
