Productive Weekend

Sunday, February 05, 2012

Hubby and I slept in until almost 9 yesterday. I had to get my son up and start breakfast and lunch as soon as we got up. My hubby fed the chinchillas and spot cleaned their cages.

It was raining so hubby and I went out to the pole barn and started working out there. My son left for work at 12:15 after he ate his lunch. Hubby and I waited and ate our lunch later.

Hubby and I were going to dig up the seed pots and get the greenhouse cleaned up and ready to go but everything in the garage and greenhouse was such a mess that we decided we had to clean it up everything before we could do anything. We ended up working for 4 hours and we cleaned up the west wall of the pole barn which is supposed to be my side but hubby has invaded over half of it.

We did some things I have been wanting to do for a long time. We hung up my huge seasonal floral wreaths that I hang by our front door on the west wall of the pole barn - I have one for winter decorated in silver with greenery, one for spring in pink, blue, purple, and white with greenery, one for summer in red, white, and blue, with greenery, one for fall with white, yellow, orange, and red with greenery, and 2 for Christmas - a red and gold one and a silver, magenta, and blue one. My husband made the wreaths out of grapevines and I decorated them.

We also hung some chairs from the ceilings. And rearranged all of my stuff where it is in groups. My outdoor seasonal decorations, my mini green house, my garden decorations, my furniture.

I also talked hubby into letting go of a few things. We have a tendency to hoard. The difference between his hoarding and mine is I can actually let go of absolute useless junk and he is like these junk people who can make use of anything. You know the type - they make art out of empty soft drink bottles. I am looking for things to throw away, things to sell, and things to keep in an orderly fashion. I talked him into getting rid of a rusty old TV table and my son's worn out playpen. They were no longer useful and not really recyclable.

We worked until it was 4 P.M. and my husband said we had to quit as he had to have some ice cream. LOL. We had worked really hard so I agreed and we drove to a town about 21 miles from here and got a choco cherry love blizzard at the Dairy Queen. They are our favorites and I have one once a year at least. We then went to Wendy's and got something to eat. We went to Rural King and Wal-mart and I finally found some vacuum cleaner bags.

Today I got up at 8 as my son had to go to work earlier and we did a repeat of yesterday. My son went to a friend's house after work. Hubby cleaned out the green house today and moved more things around in the pole barn. I gathered up tons of trash from the pole barn and burned it plus did some more rearranging. I then did some de-cluttering in the house and moved some things to the pole barn. Hubby started planting the seeds and got tomatoes, bell peppers, banana peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, kohlrabi, and impatiens started.

It stopped raining, the sun came out, and it was nice. Hubby and I went for a long walk. We saw a hawk and fed Baby. We also saw our little water turtle sunning on the shore.

We had a productive weekend.

Our main solution to clutter, up until now, has been to move!

After reading your comment about Benny's hoarding and Beth's response, I think that the American Pickers will want to stop by both of your places. That pole barn is probably exactly the kind of spot that lights up their beady little eyes!

What a great weekend!! I love that feeling of organizing, cleaning out and throwing away!! Sadly, that feeling is usually not enough to spur me to action!! LOL Our husbads were separated at birth!!! Mine keeps everything!!!! And then gloats when he can use something that's been stashed away for 25 years!! We have a Zenith TV that has to be 30 years old! It is friggin' huge but he will not get rid of it because 1) it still works 2)it's a Zenith (used to be a high end brand). We've moved this stupid TV all over this house and from Indiana to VA when we moved 26 years ago!!
Had the kids on Saturday for birthday celebrations--had fun! Craziness!! Yesterday I spent writing thank yous, going through papers, etc. Hubby left for Orlando very early for business. He'll be back tonight.

WOW you sure did, wish my hubby had the energy to do that. I find he can work for about 2 - 2.5 hrs and is beat. Not sure if it is all his anti depressant pills, the fact that he doesn't exercise or what but he hasn't any stanima to work for any length of time. But he can do all sort so fthings so we don't have to pay for most or all of the renos etc.
Glad you got lots done, and grow seedlings grow!
