Friday It Is

Friday, February 10, 2012

Another wonderful pole barn laundry day. LOL. This one was especially dreamy as it was 33-38 degrees and snowing and sleeting most of the day. But we got er done for another week.

This afternoon my son and I went to look at hotels as he has a friend coming from another state for a week and the two of them and a couple of other close friends are going to a symphony concert in St. Louis.
I don't like motels and they freak me out. I never realized we had so many motels here. I am always paranoid about them. Looking for bed bugs and body fluids. One of the ones we went to was gross. Reeked of stale cigarettes. It was icky. We didn't look at some of them like the Thrifty Inn, Drury Inn, Days Inn, Motel 6 etc. We went to the Holiday Inn, Comfort Suites, Hampton Inn, etc. One of them was great - a suite at the Fairfield Marriott Inn and it was only $102 a day.

We stopped at Kmart and then went to the meat market. We got home shortly before my hubby did so we slung a meal together from what I could find in the fridge.

I helped hubby with some stuff to do with settling the estate today and he did some work on it too.

Our transplants are up in the green house.

One of my best vacations was when we stayed at the nicest hotel. Ambience matters. LOL.

I saw a tv special on bedbugs and it scared the crap out of me!
They said they can be in the classiest of hotels. They also are extremely hard to get rid of!!
I hope you found a bug free hotel/motel.

It's a good idea to check them out because last year when my daughter booked us at an Extended Stay we thought we were in a nightmare. We pulled up and children were running around outside with no shoes on. At first I thought they were probably just having fun enjoy the summer. Once we got inside I asked to see a room, the guy showed us a model that looked beautiful. We got on the elevator and ran into all kinds of characters, including some scary looking teens and a woman with a dog. We were looking at each other like- What the...? We get into the room and it looks and smells disgusting. My kids were like there is no way we're sleeping on these beds. or sitting on the furniture. We were out of there so fast. Come to find out it was being used as a homeless shelter. He should have told me that when I was checking in.

I know, I never realized how many hotels are around me either. I am also like you about renting a room. I always look to see what others have written about their stay there before I even THINK to rent from them. Had to do that last August when we went down to Ohio.

We're finishing our laundry up as well here. My mother in law lives with us, so we try to have it done so she can use it on Saturdays!

We got snow here as well. Where is this stuff coming from? OY!

Work has been keeping me busy, as has my stomach issues. Was in ER a few days ago, and yesterday had to have a Colonoscopy.

Hang in there. Glad you stopped by my page. I did another blog this morning.

HUGS & SPARKS! Keep up the GREAT work! *hugs*

Good idea to check out those places first! We've ended up in some places that I wouldn't take off my socks or get in the shower. YUK!!! Those things don't seem to bother hubby. His mantra is always: it's not that bad. Ahhh! My little optimist!!!
OK, GF!! Enough pole barn laundry! Would you please make a decision and get a washer and dryer??!! I will have to stop feeling sorry for you soon!
Love it that transplants are up!!!! Can spring be far behind???
I've had a rough couple of days. Can't shake the blues so I've spent way too much time with my butt glued in a chair. Just can't get moving right now. Gained 2 pounds. UGH!! I know this will pass.

We have booked rooms online only to find that they were dumps.. we have also been nearly forced to stay in a dump one time.. it was so bad that we drove hour and a half maybe 2 hours.. to find a better room .. and we did and it was the same price..LOL the first place didn't even have private bathrooms.. you had to go outside and down a walk way to use the bathroom.. not me..LOL.. I hope you found a nice one.. I think the days inn group is a good one.. some are fair in price too..

Hurray for Friday! I'm just so happy that it keeps coming around every week!
Yesterday I rolled out some black yard fabric and my son spread some gravel over it for me. Enough to get me started on my first new garden box. I had to move them last year and they were rotten on the bottoms. I need like a dump truck of gravel, bark and top soil within the next three months. I could just give up lawn in the back yard - would rather have pathways and raised beds of flowers and veggies. Maybe a little covered area for a comfy chair to read on those long summer days when I have nothing to do...Ha! Like that ever happens.
I'm going to the Northwest Garden Show tomorrow. Get's my creative juices flowing!
