WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO???

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Have any of you had umpteen things to do, and, along comes a day when you can't decide what to do? This is one of those days for me. I have heaven only knows I have enough to cover forever.

However, I can think of a lot of things I WANT to do. I'd like to go into Richmond to get scrapebook paper [not that I don't have any] and pick up a few other things.

I want to get started on another jewelry project. It seems like the jewelry making is a family tradition! My eldest nakes and sells beaded jewelry, also. My younger daughters' college daughter also makes jewelry. I don't sell mine, I just make and either give away or keep for myself.

I want to get into soap making next. I already scrapebook, make cards, jewelry, sew and etc., etc., etc.

Getting back to chores. I have health problems, so need to rest at times a lot. So, I have started with the weekly house chores, and daily; three things a day for each room. Works for me!

Have a safe and terrific day!
Janet

I love your 3 things a day, and the remark about balance and making a list. Everyone here had good advice!

Wow! Your life seems so like mine! I love card-making and scrapboooking, beading and sewing, but have my own health challenges and responsibilities with my family.

Unlike the other people who responded to your blog, I do things a little differently. Firstly, instead of switching between cleaning/chores and hobbies through the day, I dedicate a day to a particular chore (like cleaning one room, or weeding one garden), then I dedicate one whole day to sewing, cardmaking, etc. I find that this means I get so much more done.

I also have learned (during my breast cancer treatment and beyond) that there are people who can help. Family members, church friends... there's lots of people who would love to help out with your chores, or even join in with your craft days!

Love and positive energy to you!

I am sorry to learn you are not feeling very well. Life throws so many things our way, that it is often difficult to keep up at our best. When we are challenged by some limitations it is extremely frustrating not to be able to do much of what we want or need to do.

It is a difficult lesson, but you are on the right track. I can learn much by your example. Sometimes it is necessary to prioritize. Pick three or a manageable number of things to do. Work on them one by one until completed. If one thing is all you are able to do, or even a part of it, you have accomplished
something. Take time out for rest and hydration, and then when you are ready, choose something you enjoy.

I hope you feel better soon.

Three things a day for each room sounds like a good routine. Perhaps have a craft by your chair where you take you breaks so you can do that while you relax. I would have to have a timer to remind me to get up and get my next bunch of homemaking duties done, to keep me from getting wrapped up in the fun! emoticon

I have a scrapbooking project going that I would love to spend all day on, but alas, I also have four closets calling for my attention, among other things. Have a blessed day, and enjoy some of those crafts in the midst of it.

Sounds like you need to make a list, then just cross things off as you get them done. Somehow the mental chaos of "so much to do" looks more manageable when in writing.

I say make a list then pick some of each - chores, fun stuff, fitness stuff!! Balance - its all about balance (so easy to say, so hard to achieve!)

I like your chore idea. Three things in one room a day. I may borrow that one. Havea a great day no matter what you choose to do.

Just pick one thing and start it. Maybe if you do that you can get one thing done - instead of starting a lot of things and finishing none of them. I have a lot of days like you are talking about - and yes it can be tough.

One day (thing) at a time, sweet Jesus! I like them all! Took a jewelry and soap making class and realized, it's easier for me to purchase these products than make! That's just me but the jewelry making was fun and a learning experience. You'll work it out! Enjoy your day as well! emoticon
