Steep incline on treadmill = embarrassing moment at the gym

Thursday, February 16, 2012

omg ... like a worst nightmare happening ... it happened to me!

First full day at the gym and I get on the treadmill for a cool down. I press cardio because it was the only familiar button. i enter weight and age and then i entered "2" for speed. The incline would auto adjust according to my speed.

up, up, up ... the treadmill inclined little by little to 10, 11, and then when i thought it would have to stop soon (or i might fall off backwards), it continued to incline to past 12. i realized i must look like a fool at such a ridiculous incline, so i tried to lower the incline.

i ended up accidentally adjusting the speed to a higher level ... and suddenly i was running and grabbing for the handles (still at this ridiculously high incline level). i finally found a "stop" button ... and then just laughed out loud at myself ... what the heck else was i going to do? i totally looked like a complete fool.

emoticon

omg.

Oh well!! These things happen! At least you didn't fall off! emoticon I'm very lucky this didn't happen to me when I first started running on treadmills, even though they did give me plenty of problems. I almost tripped over my gym towel being propelled under my feet while I was running and shoe laces came undone more than once! They have a habit of stopping suddenly for no apparent reason, too! emoticon So I had a few misshaps myself! emoticon

JerseyTaurus & Ceknight your stories made me laugh and eased my mind at the same time. My boss is buying me a membership to a gym when he gets back from vacation in a couple of weeks and all the equipment is going to be new to me. Now I'm scared. So I guess have the answer to the question I have been asking myself, "what happens if I make a fool of myself? Just laugh out loud at yourself and hope someone will be kind enough to help. Thanks for sharing!

Too funny!!! I was doing decline bench presses once when getting ready for a contest. I was grunting and pushing with all my might when I passed gas very loudly. I started laughing so hard I dropped the weights on my chest. My son was laughing so hard he couldn't get the weights off me and two guys finally saved me. Now THAT was embarrassing!!!!
