Alone with my phone

Monday, February 20, 2012

I am a runner with a beautiful 4 mile route. I run next to a forest and along a quiet stream. It is my happy place-except for one factor. The run includes a few long, lonely stretches with no home. I am always a bit anxious as I go through these areas, but I pray, and I have my phone.
I believe that the Lord keeps me safe as I seek HIS face in prayer. Also, I have been known to bring out my phone and take a photo of a car's licence plate. I have considered taking a photo of the driver, but none have stuck around.
Safety is such an important part of running. Here are my safety rules:
1. If you have a cell phone, bring it with you.
2. Make sure that someone knows that you are out running your route.
3. If you can, run with a partner, someone on a bike, or a dog.
These are al factors in keeping you safely running on the road.
