I was recently told I had to remove my extra teaching materials (a collection of 23 years!) from the spare classroom next to my reading classroom (where I have almost none of my teaching stuff stored). I cleaned with abandon, and it felt liberating. I had bags and bags of materials, lessons, pictures, etc. that just got dumped. 6 or 7 huge boxes of books went to other English teachers to beef up their class libraries. Binders were gutted and passed on to students and teachers. Etc., etc., etc. Knowing I'll retire before I go back into the regular English classroom freed my hoarding monster to let go of the things to which it had the death grip. It was a wonderful few days of lightening-up; I never thought it would feel so good.
Have you gotten rid of anything in your life lately? And how did it feel?

I need to do a clean out of teaching stuff at home! If I could only do it with "abandon" as you did. Thanks for the comment on my photo. Your pictures of your yard and garden were taken in a beautiful area, but I can't tell where that is because you're such a world traveler. Love that!

I have also been ridding my office of any materials I have not or will not use. I am three years from retirement and already thinking of the next person!
