2 Peter 1:3-11

Jesus has the power of God, by which he has given us everything we need to live and to serve God. We have these things because we know him. Jesus called us by his glory and goodness. Through these he gave us the very great and precious promises. With these gifts you can share in God's nature, and the world will not ruin you with its evil desires.

Because you have these blessings, do your best to add these things to your lives: to your faith, add goodness; and to your goodness, add knowledge; and to your knowledge, add self-control; and to your self-control, add patience; and to your patience, add service for God; and to your service for God, add kindness for your brothers and sisters in Christ; and to this kindness, add love. If all these things are in you and are growing, they will help you to be useful and productive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But anyone who does not have these things cannot see clearly. He is blind and has forgotten that he was made clean from his past sins.

My brothers and sisters, try hard to be certain that you really are called and chosen by God. If you do all these things, you will never fall. And you will be given a very great welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This was my random scripture tonight. This is a passage I have been reading the past week or so during my Bible study time, but it was a welcome reminder as I'm navigating some interesting waters surrounding my daughter and the children's department at church. I must remember to be faithful, good, kind, patient, self-controlled, wise and loving.

Self-controlled is also a word that is "hammering" me lately and I know it is meant just for me and my weight journey. That's what it is going to take! Self Control.

Self Control. Those things that we resist seem to persist! I am all about just being in the moment, choosing as many healthy options as possible and my focus is going to really start being on tracking and not beating myself up for wanting some Carbs! LOL.

Self Control is a fruit of the Spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.

I would rather think... word control, first because if we control our words we speak then we can control the body. one thing preceeds r follows the other.

Speaking.... "I can do ALL things THRU G*D who strengthens me! I can do it, I can do it... with G*D right at my side! we can all do it! One day ata time! One thing ata time. One step at a time. susana

Certainly self-control is a virtue to be developed and prized. It isn't very easy.
