Can't stay motivated!

Monday, April 30, 2012

I am starting my 3rd try at this, hopefully the saying '3rd time's the charm' is true! I have such a hard time staying motivated! Mainly, I think it's because after trying so hard, and seeing no results, I just give up! I mean, why put myself through all of this, when it isn't paying off? I push myself to exercise, spend time making healthy meals (when what I really want is some good old comfort food!), drinking only water, and can't lose weight!! Some weeks, I even gain! It's very discouraging!

Thanks for the advice and encouragement! I'm goig to try REALLY hard to set some realistic goals and stick with them! Hoping eventually it will become 2nd nature, and not something I have to work so hard at doing!

I know it's easy to slip back into that comfort zone. Even if the scale isn't showing any sign of approval of your improved life style, I'm sure your body is thanking you. Think about how wonderful it is for your body to have water, good clean healthy meals and exercise. You are eating and exercising to be healthy and healthy isn't a number!! (((HUGS)))

    Hey, don't give up!

Pick a couple of small goals which are relatively easy to accomplish. This will give you momentum and will get you to the next level.

Tracking honestly is important. I know that if you feel like having some comfort food, carrots won't fill the void. Plan for it, have it. Not boatloads of it, of course. Losing weight does not require you live on celery sticks.

Exercise is good but don't stress over it. Find something fun, else you won't stick with it. Do both, cardio and strength. Or generally just aim for a more active lifestyle, less time in front of the TV, less couch time, taking the stairs, parking at the far end of the parking lot, etc.

Water: I hate it! Yes, I make myself drink water, but hardly ever make the "obligatory" 8 cups a day. (Who made that up anyway?) Water becomes more tolerable if I add a splash of juice or a squeeze of lemon or orange.

Point I'm trying to make, don't put too much pressure on yourself and don't try doing it all at once. Baby steps go a long way towards reaching your goal.

Hang in there! You, too,can do this!

hey I know what you mean I go through the same feelings, it sucks when you work really hard and nothing. But i have come to realise that if you give up now and have the comfort food further down the line when you want to shift it, it will be soooo much harder! Shake things up slightly! instead of just water try herbal teas or water with fruit in and ice. Perhaps you are getting slightly bored, remember to treat yourself nice too!. it is a change of habit and lifestyle not a punishment or a chore. Comfort food is ok just change what that is or make it healthier. just an idea and not trying to judge just give you a few words from my experiences, i don't know it all.

All the best with your journey Cx
