I am way behind here, so I may have to do more then one blog. I am going back to the 26th. We had light rain that day, so took my pictures looking out my window. We went to check on the Owls. Guess what? They are all gone. However, the horses that are up a bit from the nest were out, so I took couple of pictures of them in the pasture.
We drove further up the road and came across a Joshua Tree that grew in a odd way, but yet it is pretty.
We drove around a bit just to look around. We turned on this one road and saw this one home that had an old fashioned buggy with flowers around it. Was very cute.
We saw a couple of interesting gates.
We decided to head home, and saw the cows Long Horns.
We checked on Mama Hawk. She was in the nest, but it was so dreary the pictures didn't come out very well. However, I did see a new bird in the area. I had to come home and look the bird up because I don't remember seeing this one before. It is a California Towhee
I will finish up tomorrow. I still have a ton of pictures left. I will leave you with something I saw today though, and I have more pictures of this beautiful bird that landed near our car when we were pulled off the side of the road.
I have to get up early tomorrow so I can take my DD to her school.
Have a good Wed!!
Awww!! The owl's fledged and we missed it! Oh, poo!! lol! This last one looks to me like some bird of prey and maybe he's missing part, if not all of his/her beak! I know it happens with bald eagles and maybe it does with all birds of prey once they've reached a ripe old age! Makes eating hard for awhile, but eventually it grows back......like a fingernail. Either that or it's just the angle that makes me think he's missing some or all of his beak. Don't know. Love those sweet horses and the long horns! WooHoo!! Have a great day! 2846 days ago
No more owls?! (grumble, grumble) Well, I hope they are all doing well out in the big bad world. I used to be obsesses with the old fashioned carriages. I lived in Ellensburg WA for a couple of years which is a cow-town and I really got into the ranch lifestyle. Nearby was a teensy city named Thorpe and they have this kind of roadside fruitstand/antique store/carriage museum. It's the coolest place! 2846 days ago
