Down, But Not Out

It seems I have run into a slight hurdle. I ended up in the hospital this weekend. I did not even know I was sick. My husband and I went to visit our family this weekend in Eastern Oklahoma for my niece's graduation. We ate at taco mayo afterward. Now, I don't normally eat fatty foods, but this time I ate a chicken queso bowl with beans, rice, and cheese. I had saved some extra calories for this occasion because I knew we would eat out and I wanted to allow myself some leeway. That night, I ended up having extreme chest pains and vomiting all night long. I thought maybe it was heart burn, or worse, food poisoning. I went back to bed feeling a little better. When I got up several hours later for breakfast, I was still in a little pain, but not as bad as I was earlier. My mom fixed us bacon and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Afterward, the chest pains hit again and I decided to go to the emergency room. I had no idea that I would end up spending the entire weekend in a hospital bed hooked up to a heart monitor, IV, and oxygen. I went through a battery of tests and the doctors concluded that I have gall bladder disease. Now I have to have it removed. This sort of puts a little obstacle in my path and I am worried about losing muscle and stamina while I am down. I worked so hard to get to where I am and I do not want to go backward. I will find out Wednesday when I will be needing surgery. Hopefully I will not be down for too long. Even if I am, I will get right back up and start again. The good thing is I will not be able to cheat on food. I can't tolerate anything unhealthy or full of fat and I can't stand to overeat either. So, I won't put on weight. I just won't be able to do as much running and weight training as I normally do. I guess it will be walking for a week or two.
