Back from Vacation and Motivated!

Yesterday we spent the whole day on the road coming home from my sister's vacation house in Branson. Lucky for me, before we left a week ago I'd gone grocery shopping for the week and had a fridge full of fresh produce. Hubs said we were going on vacation, so all that produce went with us...and we ate it all! It helped having the produce with us to reduce the urge to eat out. We did eat out, and what I ate was extremely horrible nutrition wise. I'm happy to say that even though it tasted good for the first few bites, my body rejects the grease, so after the first upset tummy I didn't eat quite so much. Glad my body is adjusting in a positive way and I'm learning to eat healthier while on vacation.
While on vacation we visited Marvel Cave, which is part of Silver Dollar City. I recommend this tour to anyone who visits! We went on the free tour that comes with our admission ticket for the park, and that tour consists of about 60 people, over 700 stairs and 700 feet under ground. There is a lot of information and it's beautiful. After we took that tour we decided the next day (we had a 2 day pass) we would do the 5:30 lantern tour. This is a smaller group of people, and it costs $10 per person. This is a reservation only tour so we had to sign up as soon as we got to the park. This is a different approach to the same tour we took before. On this one we all carried lanterns and there were no other lights on in the cave. The tour guide showed us more areas of the cave and told more detailed stories about the history (including a few ghost stories and legends). My feet hurt and my legs were aching by the end of this tour (we'd spent the whole day on our feet walking the park first), but I loved it! I'm a rock hound and I could spend hours exploring those caves.
Speaking of all that walking, if you've been following my posts you know I've been going crazy for the last month on walking restrictions. I had a bad knee and had Dr orders to stay off my feet as much as possible. I'm proud to say an entire week of vacationing, walking, tours, caves, stairs and chasing kids, and my knee has not hurt at all! I had a short period where my ankle hurt a little, but I think that may have been a bit of stress from all of the walking I was doing when it wasn't used to it. Over all we had a great trip, and I'm busy again at home. When I get some time to upload some pictures, I'll try to remember to post some. I got some great shots in the caves (we also toured Fantastic Caverns in Springfield) and I have an adorable picture of my husband with my daughters parasol from the Branson Belle Showboat.
I'm so excited for my new found mobility, I've been cleaning and exercising like crazy. Time to get moving again!!
