Give of Yourself

Sometimes things fall into place just as they are supposed to. Last Saturday I went to a friends party (great party!) and at the party I played volleyball (yes I know I have told this part in a previous post). So the following day I went to church on my own (a first but definitely not my last) and as I was reading the church bulletin I saw a posting looking for volleyball coaches. I thought to myself whoa! That cannot be a coincidence that I play volleyball for the first time since I was 15 and the next day I see this posting. I am a firm believer that God tells us what he wants us to do we just have to be open and listen. So on Monday I call the number and leave a voicemail about being one of the coaches. So after leaving the message I go on about life and yesterday I get a call back. Guess who is going to be one of the head coaches for one of the three girls volleyball teams for their church? (Waving hand frantically in the air). I am so excited about not only the idea of getting back into volleyball but I get to do something really great for my church. I am re-learning that to be successful you have to give of yourself without wanting or expecting anything in return. On top of that I got a call today from a friend to fill in for them in a volleyball game! It was fun, I got dirty and it was a great feeling. And why did I do it? Because I was asked. There was no prize, there was nothing in it for me except to get out of the house and have a little fun. And do you know what else? It's a great feeling to be able to give and I have forgotten just how wonderful of a feeling it is!
