Is there no end to bad news?....

Friday, July 27, 2012

Hello Spark Friends,
As you know if you read my last (and very first) blog, we have been going through a nightmare of a time with deaths, sickness and emergencies almost non- stop. Unfortunately there seems to be no end to it all :

My Mum was diagnosed with cancer late May this year and she had an operation to have it removed two and a half weeks ago. The operation was successful, it looked like she was making good progress, but she came out of hospital three days ago only to be rushed straight back with severe complications...She is 78 years old and quite obese - I have never been able to convince her to try and lose some weight!

I did not mention to you, the hardest thing is she lives in Cyprus where I come from, but I live in Australia, half way around the world from her. I have been feeling really down, I want so much to see see and comfort her ...

I have been trying to work harder than ever, I want to "make up" some time as I am going to do my best to visit her and my dad and sister...

As always my Spark Friends have all been there, my rock of support. It is hard to explain how much comfort it gives me just having any kind of contact with you all, regardless that I have not been returning any contact in the last few months - sometimes I feel I do not deserve you at all - THANK YOU! You are all very special to me!

Eleni

So sorry to hear about your Mum. How is she doing now? It is hard to keep in touch when life gets complicated and you are busy with a hectic job-we understand. Good to hear from you-maybe just post in your status once in awhile or blog on occasion. We like hearing from you...otherwise we get worried. Hope all is ok? emoticon

Such a hard spot to be in. I was too far away when my mother fell dead of heart attack. Could not go back for the funeral. MUMs are just so priceless, no matter how long they live, it's never long enough. This is an old blog, so I don't know if you got to go home to see her and the rest of your family or not. Hope she is all better now. You are in my prayers. We are here to support each other. Love and Hugs, B

I know that must be extremely difficult having a sick mother half way around the world. I hope that you are able to go and see her very soon.

So very sorry to hear about your Mum :(( That was good news they were able to get the cancer, but oh my, the complications :((
That is really hard for her being so far away :(( Know this though, you only have one Mum, but work will always be there. Surely most employers would understand the need for compassionate leave here, they shouldn't give you any trouble or cost you your job. Please do go to her as soon as possible.
Sending soothing and comforting thoughts to you and your family and healing for your Mom, may the Dr.'s stop and fix these complications.
    Big hugs,

Are you able to Skype with your mom so you could see one another? That might be a temporary solution until you can visit in person. I hope things turn around for you!
