Feels like Cabin Fever

Sunday, August 05, 2012

I've been in the house since last Wednesday afternoon after lunch with my WW girlfriends. That's a full 3 1/2 days and it's getting expensive!! Last night I called to purchase a recliner for my living room and two flat weave rugs for my kitchen for a tidy sum which will be on a deferred payment basis. The chair is a Wing chair push back recliner that looks really easy to get into and out of. It's very attractive and doesn't look like one of those big grandpa chairs that I already have and can't use because I can't get out of it w/o help! The rugs, well, they were on a half-price sale and it will take two, end to end, to cover my awful looking kitchen floor. The chair was also on sale.
I think I've been in a challenge mode, which many of us self-motivated Sparkers seem to get into quite often. Let's say my challenge was to see just how self-sufficient I could be from my home and computer, with this weather being almost intolerable for a person in a wheelchair and other older-type humans. I already do all my food shopping with a grocery delivery service which I love, do my prescriptions by mail, and have a busy telephone and computer for non-physical socializing. There comes a point though where I CRAVE human companionship. So today I will go to church whether it rains or not.
I would say my experiment/challenge taught me a few things, while there is still stuff I need to explore. I will need some one to assemble some parts of the chair, and to bring the boxes in after they've been delivered. Maybe I'll post notes for the Parcel post to knock on my door and they can bring the stuff inside. One thing I have learned is that the strategy for meeting the challenge develops one step at a time, one day at a time. Same as our weight loss... one meal at a time, one day at a time! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticonand The two grey kitties are back!!

We bought a new recliner yesterday too! DH had his old one for probably 25 years, and the mechanism to put out the footrest finally gave out. Enjoy your new things.

I also get "cabin fever" if I don't go out every other day. . .when it's hot I do try to go in the early morning or around 6:30 before it's dark. I don't like driving at night anymore. You're going to love your new chair and rugs. I hope you enjoyed Church, seeing friends and singing and hearing a good sermon. I hope your hot weather lets up. We're in the 90s today but tomorrow is supposed to hit 100--which I hate as then it's hot even in the morning. . .Enjoy your Day Dear Friend.

    Hugs,

I bought a large recliner a few years ago - and it has become a bed for my cats! I found it difficult to get up from it and seldom use it.
I hope you enjoyed church today.

the chair sounds wonderful. I've always thought if I got another recliner that would be the way to go. unfortunately i don't have room for a chair where the tv is so, no recliner for me.
    I hope church was fulfilling.

You are amazing! I love seeing all you do and accomplish. Wish I were close enough to help with the assembly.
