We didn't go to the lake today. It was cloudy, and hazy in areas, so I didn't think it would make for good pictures. I did get some pics of my favorite birds in our backyard.
I bought a finch Thistle seed sock, and DH hung it for me in the garden area. I knew most of the Sunflower seeds had been eaten. I didn't want to lose these precious birds. They seem to be enjoying the Thistle seed. There were 2 Finches on the sock. The bird in the back was to busy eating to pose for me. Not once did it peep his head around. The other Finch would grab a seed, look at me, grab a seed. Therefore, some of the pics are a bit fuzzy. It just didn't stay still lol.

I keep missing these great blogs. Beautiful pictures, I am going to have to put up more bird feeders. The Finches are so pretty. Absolutely love Henley. I keep trying but the crows won't stay put for a picture. Hope everything is going well, have a great evening. 2710 days ago
Oh, those pretty finches! I keep niger feeders for them year round, but they prefer, it seems, the black oil sunflower seeds that I put out for the Cardinals and other assorted feathered friends! They let the niger rot in their tubes! Ugh! The doves will sometimes just take over the feeders b/c they like the sunflower seeds, too! Nobody told them that they are supposed to be ground feeders! Like the Jays!! hehe They get in the feeders now and again, too!! I'll be tickled pink when the starlings, grackles and cow birds move on out of our town. I think they may have already as I haven't seen them lately! Hero Henley is such a big love!!! Showed these pics to my DS and he's in love!!! Nice angle statue! I can't seem to keep a gazing ball! They lose their color! Like the paint melts right off! Yours is so pretty! Nice balloon! You must have some real die-hard balloonists in your general area! Nice! We're still struggling with our bathroom re-build, so any day is only relaxing in spurts as we try to chill out between spurts of work! hehe Planning a nice relaxing walk around the block before it gets dark this evening. Have a super rest of the day!!!
They had a hot air balloon show near us this past week..nice..just would lvoe to ride one though..We feed our finches and other birds black oil sunflower seeds all winter..Hubby made me a nice feeder from a mason jar..and have it outside my studio window to watch. I don't like feeding them duirng the summer or fall and will start back feeding them in December..they have enough grass and thistlle seed wild right now..Our golden finches are so many that they drive off the redbirds and purple finches..chickadees, wrens etc...they are fiesty little things..Can't wait for the junkas to return..Bluebirds have gone now and still seeing just a few humming birds. Love our photos as usual. 2712 days ago
Love the photos!! Gorgeous finch! Cute Henley! Just want to hug his neck!! Have you ever been in a hot air balloon? I think they are so cool, but think it may scare me too much, with my fear of heights! 2712 days ago
I love the little finches. I haven't had thistle out for a couple yrs. and miss them coming around. They used to winter with us and I am sure they would again if I had food out and we were there. Thanks for the pictures!!! 2712 days ago
I love the photos of the finches....aren..'t they beautiful creatures? Henley has such a distinguished face with such wise eyes! The sunflowers are just gorgeous with the sun behind them! Beautiful images ....thank you for sharing. 2712 days ago
Is Henly a Red Tick Hound. He is beautiful. I too love the yellow finches and now that my sunflower's are all dried up, I see less of them. I would hang a sock but we have rats bc of the horses and grain. Horses don't completly digest some grain like corn, so it attracts rats. I don't want anymore here than I already have.
