Appendicitis

Thursday, September 27, 2012

So I was scheduled to do a 10 mile run at Tower of Terror in Disney World on Sept 29, 2012. But on Tues, Sept 18, I went to the ER with lower right pains in my abdomen to find out I had appendicitis. There went the thought of even trying to run 10 miles 10 days later. So now, I am just going up to enjoy myself as a person without her appendix and unable to ride too many rides. I can just walk around take lots of pictures and enjoy the festivities and cheer my friend who is running on.

I am also going to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and I will enjoy myself as a normal person, not an overly active person.

I am going nuts that I can't be at the gym yet, I will find out tomorrow when I can go back to the gym even if it is just to walk on a treadmill, I am okay with that.

I am going to sign up to do a half marathon at the end of Feb with another friend, shouldn't have any issues with the hospital or anything.

thank all of you for your comments, it is helpful. i did find out from the surgeon when i went on friday that my appendix was about to burst so it was a good thing i went in when i did. i know things happen for a reason.

actually being there was kind of hard and on top of that i was there with a friend who had too many other things on her mind and she wouldn't let go for one evening of 4 hours to be with me and have fun with me as a friend. i wanted to watch the racers and she just wanted to do stuff and be moving all the time, i had to keep reminding her to slow down as we walked because we were not in a hurry. she kept saying sorry she is used to walking fast, i really didn't care that she walked fast, but i was sore from the night before with my sister and parents walking around so i wanted to take it easy last night. it was fun all in all and i am allowed to go and do cardio at the gym, and i will take it slower because of how sore i am. i didn't think about how the surgeon still had to go through muscles to get to the organ, thanks.

Carla--Even though you are disappointed you can't participate in the race, I'm just so glad you are okay and they didn't rupture. Have a wondrful time, take lots of pics for scrapbooking and pace yourself. emoticon

So sorry you have to postpone running that half, but glad they found out what was going on and you're on the mend. It usually takes a few weeks to get back to normal, listen to the doctor about how soon to get back to working out and how much to do initially.

Give yourself time to heal too. It may be small but they did go through the muscles too. That will hurt for a while.
