Bond Brook Tread Fest Trail 5 Mile Race Report

Sunday, October 21, 2012

Had a real nice race this morning...Bond Brook is a great place to run...just a short run from my work...love it!

I headed over this morning for the 5 Mile race...started at 0930...there was also a 10 Mile (5 Mile Loop X 2), and Mountain Bike races...plus kids races, a beer tent, food tent, and a small band...

Great turnout for the second year this event has been held...there was no 5 Miler last year, but a 5K and 10 Mile. The weather was beautiful...in the high 40s/low 50s...sun, but not too bright...it had rained yesterday so the course had some slick spots...I decided I was not going to risk injury but take it easy and enjoy myself. And I did. Most of the course was on the same trails as the Summer 5K series I ran this Summer. Two water stops. The trail was marked pretty well, only one point where I and the small group I stuck with for most of the race got a little turned around. Turned left ankle around mile 4... Finished in 57:48, an 11:34 pace...not unhappy at all with that...39/61 Overall and 5/10 A/G. The 10 Milers started finishing not too long after I came in (at 1 hr, 12 min)... We got a running cap, beer ticket, and I paid for a meal ticket-food was pretty good... Saw some familiar faces from the Summer series...

Will definitely do again next year...10 Miler instead as I'm planning to be tapering for the Ghost Train Rail Trail Ultra by then if all goes as planned.

Thanks for reading!
