Our Summer

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

I went into the summer on a positive note. I jumpstarted my weight loss with Nutrisystem like I planned. I lost 25 pounds. My next step was to get back to Weight Watchers. NS was too expensive to stay on for the long haul.
We have had a few exciting things happen. Our middle child, Brandon, decided he wanted to join the National Guard. He went to Basic Training for 5 months and we to Missouri to watch him graduate. We took a side trip to Branson for a vacation. We hada good time. We took our soldier back with us for a few days.
Next we were walking by a Pet Depot and saw this sweet little girl in a cage. She was malnourished. They found her in a ditch with her sister. She was on the brink of death but they got her in time and she was gaining nicely but you could see her ribs sticking way out. We took her and she has gained 10 lbs. in the month she has been with us. So now we have 1 cat and 2 dogs. The dogs named after my beloved Steelers, Heinz and Woodley.
Next I went back to Weight Watchers. I have the e-tools so I pay monthly on the site. I also got the ActiveLink. I started on Aug. 1 and have lost 15 so far. I love this program. I still have NS food left and have incorporated that into WW.
At the end of Sept. we went to Rome and Naples. My husband spoke at the International Astronautical Congress so I got to go along. It was nice only having to pay for me. Rome was beautiful. Naples not as much but there were charming places we found. We ate at the place Julia Roberts ate in the movie, Eat, Pray, Love. It was such good pizza. Kind of like ours here in America better though. LOL
The Vatican was so impressive and the Night Walks in Rome were beautiful.
The most exciting thing was I only gained .2 in Italy. YAY!!!!
It is so good to be home.
I have lost 26 total since the start of the year. I have buckled down and hope to lose 15 more by New Years. Holiday season is tough but it can be done.
I hope all is going good with all of my fellow sparkers.

Hey, girl. I am so very impressed. I remember in that movie "Eat, Pray, Love" when Julia got a "muffin top". It was depressing. I kept thinking that at this age I will never be able to lose this weight. You are doing it, though. To stay on track on vacation is a real accomplishment.

I have talked to several people that are life time WW members. What seems to be the common thread is that the same thing they did to lose weight they keep doing. I still have to learn that.

You are doing great. Keep it up.
