This will be my first Holiday Season after losing weight. The research suggests that most adults gain about 1 pound during the winter, it is that one pound this year that can turn into 3 pounds next year. And I am sorry, but the research seems wrong, it seems more like 5 pounds during the winter, but I won’t argue with the research. Either way, I don’t like what it suggests. That said, this will also be my first Spark Holiday Season. So, let’s plan shall we? Why not, right? We plan for shopping, we plan for feasts, we plan our work schedules so we can have time with our loved ones. Why not plan to keep the weight off and stay on track?
My Holiday goals:
Get my cardio in. Walk at least 3 times a week, preferably 5 times. Still rehabbing the knee (ACL knee surgery a few months back), so cardio is tough for me. I do believe shopping counts here :) Maybe you don’t know how I shop? I hate to walk slow. Yeah, that’s me urging you forward in the crowd or getting annoyed by the slow pace of people. But for the record, I am always like that! I just like to walk fast. Don’t judge, lol.
ST 4 days a week (3 days is acceptable). I know the next two months will be busy with work and holiday happenings, so I am being reasonable here. Sure, I would like to do more, but as long as I am moving, I will be burning those calories. And for the record, when I say ST, that means about 20 minutes of light weights or resistance bands.
PORTIONS PORTIONS PORTIONS! I do not like to restrict WHAT I eat, but I will be completely mindful of how much I eat. Three balanced meals with 2-3 healthy snacks per day is my goal.
I will also practice using my Spark Defenses. You know,
-“No thank you, I am full”
-“That smells delicious, but my plate is already arranged”
-Knowing that I don’t have to explain or give too much detail of why I am not eating at social gatherings, spending time with friends and family is enough to fill me emotionally, I don’t need the food for that.
Drink my water!!! I have been really slacking here lately. I know this because I have had a few bad headaches from being otherwise dehydrated.
If I can navigate November and December without gaining, that will be a HUGE success for me. And then in January…..I GET TO RUN!!!!! OMG, I am so excited. If my doctor doesn’t clear me, it may just send me into insanity and not the good kind of Insanity that we see all over Spark People.
