Mom's Night was so fun last evening. So refreshing talking with the ladies there about non-homeschool stuff for a change. You really get to know each other better at these outings.
Before I left we had a scare with Maegann's hamster as she had accidentally dropped him on the wood floor and he "went dead." I looked online and found that this is their response to trauma, but I was concerned as he was bleeding from his nose a bit. Within about 15 minutes he was moving his head and I will say she was very lucky that he's totally fine and had finally began eating and drinking again by bedtime. I am glad of that, but also glad she learned a needed lesson as she'd become too careless with him lately in how she played with him.
Got up the usual "gym" time today and headed to volunteer at Bountiful Baskets as they ask you do this once within four visits. A lady from church was there too and as we were standing together we got placed on apple duty. Some great looking fruit & veggies today! Once I was finished there and had my box I headed to the grocery store to fill in the rest of my shopping list for the week. Came home and started laundry and checked some email. I had to go to the church about 11:30 to let people in for the co-op chess tournament (with our mentoring co-op). Thankfully the two moms there from our co-op were willing to close the building down so I didn't have to go back. I then ran a couple errands on the way home. Two of our students took 1st & 3rd! Whoo hoo!
Tomorrow after church Maegann is going home with a friend and we'll meet back up at 4:30 when we're all there for quizzing or choir stuff. I plan to use the quiet (yes, the house is much quieter when she's not here) and get things ready for school this week and do more on my James study.
Here's the picture for the cross-stitch that I'm working on. Maegann chose it and I'm loving the easier pattern and larger thread count! It says, "Every Creature of God is Good" from 1 Timothy 4:4.
December Goal: Giving up soda.
The Biggest Loser Winter Challenge team (Go Emerald!) has been challenged to identify an impediment to our weight loss and after thinking it over for a couple of days I chose this one. It is my main "calorie killer" each day and now the hubby has shared info that too much sugar is proven to have something to do with dementia down the road. So.... as hard as it will be for awhile I am going to do this once and for all. I have a great motivator here at Spark too as she is 6 months soda free (Hope I got that right Trish!) so I know it can be done. Okay Carrie.... I'm really going to have to do it now! I've posted it here and on the team thread! (biting nails.....)
