Another quiet day here. Skipped the gym as the hubby was already gone and the kids just don't like waking up to a parent-less house even if it would only be 5-10 minutes. I will make up for it by going to the gym tomorrow before stopping for my Bountiful Basket of fruits and veggies. Mostly we did schoolwork and after lunch Maegann and I went by the library. Watched the Rockettes Christmas Special off Netflix (I'd love to go in person!) and then got ready for playgroup.
Playgroup was quite fun, as always, but we had more tiredness in the kids since it was a Friday. We usually meet on Saturday's. They enjoyed their first gift exchange and it was fun watching their excitement.
Afterwards we stopped by our friends' place as it was on the way home as their oldest son (he's almost 18 now) has been programming an elaborate Christmas light display for about five years. It's simply amazing as you tune into a radio station and watch the dancing lights in time to the music. We then parked down the street a little ways and rang the bell hoping they were home. We visited for about 15 min. and then headed home. The really nice thing about this visit is these friends were caught in the cross-fire of a relationship that went sour almost two years ago. We haven't seen them in a year and I know it was connected if for no other reason than just knowing we all can't be together anymore and they have a home church connection with the others. The hubby had emailed or facebooked to ask about the lights and we got the message, "It is okay if you come in." Thankful, but I know we still can't do much more than that.
Saturday.... I will begin the day at the gym, head to Bountiful Baskets and then stop at the grocery store for a very few items I need for the week. Our next Christmas party begins at 4 and is with our adult Sunday School class and all our children. We are having soups and breads for dinner (I'm making a taco soup.) and always have a wild and crazy gift exchange. Nice that the kids are old enough now to enjoy that too without worrying so much about the tears/fits because someone "steals" their gift item. We do have to be cautious with Isaac though so Tim works with him to help him cope.
SODA CHALLENGE - DAY 6
Another successful day! I even survived an outing to McDonald's! Went for the unsweetened tea instead, but it was soooo tempting. I also did well at playgroup. I took my water bottle filled with Crystal Light Lemonade. I know...water would have been better, but by that time I wanted something with a little taste and since it makes up so little of my daily intake I was okay with that. It was a good plan as the person bringing drinks brought soda pop. Another positive....no headache today.
