I am so glad we have made it through this day. We left the house at 10:20 and finally got home about 2:15. That gave us around 20 minutes before I had to take Isaac to see the counselor. Once back from that I took a nap as I just couldn't keep my eyes open and I knew Jenn was coming for dinner and game so I wanted to be a little rested. Amazing how just driving and hanging out for that many hours just wiped me out! A positive of getting through this day is we are through the majority of the holiday events. Only have Maegann's piano/voice recital Monday and Tim's company party on Thursday.

The co-op Christmas party for the kids was fun today. We were at the University's student union where they have 8 bowling lanes so we had those reserved and then a party room just across from it. There were about 80 kids there!

I spoke with Isaac's counselor for a little while today about what we'd like to see happen regarding Isaac's anger and then I asked him about counseling for Maegann to deal with the mean girls at church that are now adding teasing about her autistic brother into things. She still needs to mature into being able to stand up for herself, but she also needs some help figuring out how to handle Isaac's autism too. She's on a waiting list to see a female counselor that uses music therapy.

Tomorrow I will head to the gym at the usual time and then go by to get my fruits & veggies from Bountiful Basket. Then I can stop by the grocery store to get a few other items. Looking forward to a day where I really don't have any other commitments and can just be home!

Another successful day and two opportunities to choose soda. First was at the Christmas party. The only drink offered was soda so I chose to have my few snacks and go to the water fountain instead. The second was at lunch. I ordered the kids their sodas and then a lemonade for myself. I also have not noticed the problem ofonly drinking tea and water again so I'm wondering if I've made it past that for the first time. Can't believe that once I get through tomorrow I will have made it for two weeks!!!

WTG! Keep it up!!! You are doing awesome!!!

My son has autism too. It has been such a weird balance to keep the family moving along somewhat normally b/c of it. (I spend a LOT of 1-on-1 time with him - schooling, taking him to therapies, etc.) A lot of time and energy wondering "would he like that?" I often wonder how it's effecting the girls. Glad that you are able to get your daughter to talk to someone! Isn't it sad when there are mean girls at church too?? We've experienced some bullying at church....almost makes one of my girls not want to go! :-(

I certainly hope that Maegann can get to see the counselor soon.

You're really smart to understand the impact your son has on your daughter. I missed that and Kate suffered because of ir.
