New Years Day Tradition

Monday, December 31, 2012

Every year on January first, we plan a hike to the summit of Mt. Monadnock.
Typically, the hike takes less than 5 hours, with a quick lunch on the summit. We invite friends who have summitted in the past, and have the right equipment (warm clothes, gaters, microspikes and a pack) and the ability to make the climb without difficulty. We also pray for good weather.

The conversations are lively, and laughter abounds as we make our way to the summit. We talk about the joys of the past year and look ahead to the future.

Sometimes we are rewarded with great views, but not last year.
I'm looking forward to our summit hike tomorrow. It causes me to look ahead to another year of good health and great friends!

What are some of the traditions that you celebrate the New Year? I hope that you find reenewed health and joy in the Lord Jesus Christ this coming year. Jackie
