Mamma ate organic

Before it was popular, my 90 year old mother ate organic foods. Born in 1922, she grew up on a farm, and they never used pesticides. The meat she ate was fed organic grain, and the eggs she ate were free range organic. That was the standard for farms in the 20’s and 30’s. It took decades to destroy that base of healthy eating. She was diagnosed with diabetes at 89.
At almost 91, Glenna Gray is going strong, and her memory is clear. She walks every day, and still drives. She makes her own cards, and sends them to everyone in her family and in the church. She doesn’t just know these people by name, snow knows them by heart.
I helped my mom make a quilt for the great-grandchild due in July. She is still excited about life, love and the future. Health is the gift that keeps on giving. Passing on a legacy of good health choices is something that we can all do.
