How do Working Moms get 10000 steps in?

I had to do computer input for 4 hours today. I am behind in steps and probably will not make the 10000 steps. When I got home I had only 2200. I'm at 5000 steps now and it's alfready early evening.
I really have to compliment women that work each and every day. But really wonder how they get their steps in when they have an office job. I really admire you gals, but can't figure out what you must have to do!!!

    Thanks for the blog. I am retired and have often wondered how you working gals get your steps in. In the winter I do good to get in 4-5,000. I love the comment from TURTLETALK about walking in place. I'm going to try it and see where I can go with my steps.

    I do work while on the treadmill. I don't do this regularly, but I'm going to try.

    Do like we do on the chair exercise team and march with your feet while at the computer. LOL!
    It works for me, but I don't use a pedometer. emoticon

    I wonder if your step counter is accurate. I had another one from Walgreens that only recorded 300 steps a day at a job that I was moving non stop.

    When I get home, I usually walk my dogs around the neighborhood park for about 20 - 30 minutes. This adds another 5,000 steps a day to my 8,00-10,000 steps a day. I have been walking my dogs for seven years now, and I hate to say it, its still a chore to get out the door. Its only my dogs whining, but once I get outside, I am so glad to appreciate this beautiful day.

    If you don't have a lot of time, what about shorter walks that you can add to your routine everyday? Or how about using Wii, or dancing at home to make it more fun?

    I typically only get anywhere between 5000 and 7000 on good days...and that includes using the stairs at every chance and getting up and walking for ten minutes twice a day during work. I also take the long way to the bathroom and kitchen and sometimes I get a walk in at lunch. In the nicer weather I park further away as well. I find that doing squats every time I go to the bather room helps keep me a bit active and I really focus on regulated what I eat instead of worrying so much about exercise. Lets face it, it's 80% diet and 20% exercise that keeps us where we want to be.

    I struggle to get 10000 steps in for sure. I can usually hit 5000 to 7000, but to get to 10000 I have to take an extra walk in the evening, or what I've been doing lately -- walk to and from work. I also look at a weekly goal rather than a daily one, so as long as I get 70000 steps in 7 days, I'm happy. That way, I can accept that there are some days when I won't hit 10000 because there are others (like when I walk to work) that I will.

    It's really tough to get those steps in with an office job. I get up and move around after every project, but that doesn't do it.

    I REALLY struggle to get in 10k, and most days it's closer to 7k. I try. I get on the elliptical. At work I take the longest, most INdirect route to the bathroom. I wish I had the answers.....

    I don't have kids at home anymore-just dogs & hubby. But, I hit the treadmill at 4 a.m. Walk for an hour, take a shower before 6, then I take the dogs out at 6:45 for an hour. 10,000 steps done!
    I work out of a home office. But, I still had to sacrifice a few hours sleep to get the workout in.
    Believe it or not, I have more difficulty working in the 10 min workouts for the Jan challenge. Once I start work, I am out straight.

    I work 8 hours at a desk and have to sneak in some time to get my 10,000. I try to march in place while I do my morning grooming, particularly while I brush my hair and blowdry. I also do at least 100 steps in place each time I go to the bathroom at work. I am sure people are curious about what is going on in my stall but what the heck. I also try to walk for at least 15 minutes during my lunch hour doing laps around the office area. I sneak in as many excuses to get up and move as I can during the work day. After I get home I try to do any chores standing and moving. Some evenings I am marching in my bedroom as I get ready for bed but I have managed to hit my 10,000 11 of the 12 days of 2013. Good luck!

    Try doing stairs at home or get out and do a walk or a walking dvd if you have one. Walk around the house cleaning up or doing a excuses! emoticon
