Ireland House 20th year celebration
Sunday, April 14, 2013
The Ireland house hosted 3 days events on Religious Freedom in America.
A play reading - People v. Philips - 1813 - an important case that set the stage for religious freedom.
All day seminar - various panels discussing the specific case & how attitudes changed for the Irish & Catholics in general from the 1700's til today. Interesting comments from the Islamic panelist & attendee on their experiences today mirror what the Irish experienced 200 years ago.
Reception after. Good conversations with several people.
There are some more things today, but I'm taking a day off.
If you're Irish in the NYC area, the Ireland House / NYU has some really good events.
Hope your day is also sunny.
