Love

This is something I wrote years ago, but the other day, it encouraged me, I encouraged myself like a best friend.
In the flesh, love is a vicious cycle, if you let your love be lead that way. If you let go of loving yourself, by not building yourself up on your most Holy faith, praying in the Spirit, you cannot love others. You will find yourself, out of the fear of losing them, wanting control. Fear is the opposite of faith. With His faith built up in you, you will find yourself having Grace for others like you never knew before. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.

Thank you so much Jo! I really needed some encouragement today. I really just need to focus on the Lord each day. I think this morning I am going to go for a walk and pray. I really need to because I feel frustrated.

ELAINE: The sermon this very morning was on faith vs. fear. He started out by talking about David and how David and Jonathan feared Saul. That fear led David to not take the seat in the palace with Saul...a seat that was reserved for him; that was rightly his to take. Instead, he hid in a field and Jonathan told lies about where he was and why he was not in that seat...lies that turned his father, Saul, agains him as well.

We can rejoice that JESUS took the "seat" that was reserved for Him next to The FATHER in heaven; one that cost him a lot, but defeated death forever for all of us who choose to believe in Him.

God tells us repeatedly in Scripture to NOT fear anything or anyone more than Him. When we fear God....(understand His power), we realize that nothing has more power than He does and it puts all things in perspective. When we see God correctly, we see His commandments correctly and are more prone to obey. When we see God as small, or incorrectly, we also see His commands as small and are much less likely to obey them, causing ourselves more pain and grief.

There are fears that are good, of course, like taking cover in a serious storm. But the point is that REAL fear of anything should never be greater than our "fear" of God and the understanding that He is faithful.

I think everyone in the congregation felt as if that sermon was "just for them". It matches your notes to yourself well. Jo
