Preparing for Battle...

Monday, August 05, 2013

The following Bible Study is one I prepared and taught at our weekly Wednesday night Family Bible Study, when our former Pastor was away I often would take the Study along with a couple other Bible Teachers in our Church, Pastor Kris left it up to us to chose what theme and what lesson we were going to share. I have been to Bible College and took Leadership courses so this is why the Church allows me to minister there...

Ephesians 6:14-18

Preparing for Battle

1. A smart Soldier Prepared for Battle

2. He made sure he had all of his equipment before going on the front lines of battle.

3. A Soldier who was clothed in the correct armor went in to Battle Ready to face whatever the enemy threw at him.

1. Belt of Truth:

John 8:32…..We shall know the truth and the truth will set us free…

It is important to know the truth, how can we know the truth, by feeding on the Word of God, digging in to God’s Word, learning everything we can and follow what God’s Word instructs us to do, being obedient to the Word of God. God’s Word is Truth, we have a choice, we can accept the principles of God’s Word and receive this truth or we can reject it…

2. Breastplate of Righteousness

Providing we have the Breastplate of Righteousness on and we walk in the righteousness of God we will be protected, our hearts won’t grow dim or cold when we have the proper armor on. Our spiritual lives will deaden if our hearts are not right with God.

3. Feet Fitted with Readiness: Gospel of Peace

This peace will help you to stand with your feet planted firmly on the Word of God and stay there, unmoved by the devil's threats and lies. It will protect us when we walk through the rough places and keep us steady in the heat of a battle. It will keep our spiritual foes where they belong...under our feet.

4. Shield of Faith:

Ephesians 6:16 states; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Flaming arrows could not penetrate the fireproof shield of the ancient Roman soldier; nor can the assaults of Satan penetrate to the believer who places his or her faith in God.

5. Helmut of Salvation:

The greatest battlefield is in our minds. This is the area that the enemy wants to attack the most. One key area he wants to damage is our assurance of salvation. Paul gave some good advice in the following scripture.

Philippians 4:8. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

We must be on guard on what we let run free in our minds. We are to put on the Helmut of salvation. We are to clothe ourselves in God’s Salvation. The mind that is clothed in salvation will be covered and protected against the assaults of the wicked one.

6. Sword of the Spirit

Paul describes the Word of God as an awesome and powerful personal weapon. Our sword of the Spirit is the word of God. When Jesus was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, Jesus quoted His Father's words and spoke them with authority. Consequently, each Word was like a sword-blow to Satan's head! God has given us the authority to use His words because we are all ambassadors of Christ.

Hebrews 4:12- For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.

The spoken Word of God is powerful, nothing can withstand the spoken Word.
