The Ups and Downs of my Weight-loss Journey

Monday, August 19, 2013

I wish that I could tell you that it has all been Ups and no Downs, but if I did I would be lying! Of course there has been more Ups since I am DOWN overall. But I have been up and down with my weight my whole life. Weight-loss is my life, and I am hoping to change that this time.

I have tried many diets and then realized I need to figure out a healthy lifestyle change and stick with it. I think that I am fairly close, if not there. I may have to tweak it a bit here and there, but I really feel my current food plan of clean eating is the best for me.

I have also struggled with social events, such as parties, camping or just hanging out with friends. To me it’s not about the people, it’s about the food. This I believe is and always will be my downfall. I am hoping to get to a place where I feel comfortable with my body and can go to these events and splurge a little without feeling bad about it. Because there always has to be a balance, and I don’t want to have to deprive myself my whole life to keep my weight down.

Exercise is not something I jump up and down about, but I have been able to keep it in my routine for the most part. I have had lapses where I fall off the exercise wagon. But I always manage to get back on it. Strength training is something I need to work on…it is a difficult challenge for me to do it. I am all about the cardio! But I know the strength training is my key.

If I can use the knowledge that I have accumulated over the past few months, and use the experiences that I have had, both good and bad, to my advantage, I believe that there will be minimal downs and so many more ups in my future. Although, in this case…I hope I am only down from now on (with my weight that is!)!

Great blog thank you for sharing. I too struggle with making the time to exercise but I tell myself Just Do It! Seeing the down is waaaaaaaaaaay better than the ups but I too have decided that this is the last time I let myself get out of control of my weight too. I initially loathed ST but have found after time that I actually enjoy how I feel later. emoticon

    Great blog!
I love the Plan, it finally brought home the fact that wheat is not my friend. I sort of knew it but tried to ignore that fact as I loved my bread and baked goods. Now I have eliminated wheat (with the odd planned splurge) and I feel great!

Your journey sounds much like mine. Like you, I plan to make this the LAST time my weight skyrockets back up after having gotten to goal weight. I think I've finally found a way to make ST a weekly part of my life but its not like most people's plan - instead I do a 10 minute workout on one body part (upper, lower, then core) every day, taking Sunday off. This is what is working for me - but I can't say its for everyone! emoticon emoticon
