As some of you know and others may NOT know, I have my BA of Arts in P-5 education. In an earlier blog during the challenge on "words" I mentioned that I had not been as dedicated to finding a teaching job as I should/needed to be. That translated to not being dedicated to ME, and my dream! The school year has already started here and to my knowledge all teaching positions have been filled. It might seem that I would be "out of luck" so to speak until next year. However, God showed me a plan!
Since it has been over 2 years since I got out of school, I am feeling a whole lot out of touch with education, etc... So, I am applying to be a substitute teacher/aide with my local school district! What does that do to my current "steady" job? Well, I talked to my boss and I will just work evenings and weekends, so I will be available to sub during the day!
The best part? This isn't just my plan, I have already gotten the ball rolling! I called the school board to see what all I needed to do to get back on the sub list and am working on those things! I have been fingerprinted for my background check, have updated my application, gotten my physical and am in the process of applying for my statement of eligibility (SOE) from the state! Here's the good/bad news... I THOUGHT applying for my SOE cost $50 and that is one of the reasons I kept putting it off! Come to find out, the first one is free, you only have to pay when renewing it!! So, that's good news I don't have to pay, but bad news in that I could have already had it if I had known it wouldn't cost me anything! BUT, I cannot beat myself up over the coulda, shoulda, woulda's, I just have to concentrate on the here and now!
All that is left, is some training (September 9th) and of course, WAITING on the background check and the SOE to come back!
I am excited though! Anxious to get started!!! I am already praying that God will open the doors for LOTS of subbing. I need the experience, the visibility and also, the added income will be nice!
Thanks for reading, hope you all have a great day!
Hugs to all,
