Birthdays, Holidays, Cakes, Pies Oh My! Nutrition Update.

Hi Everyone,

In my last blog post, I blogged about having a nutrition appointment. I had that today, unfortunately, I had to reschedule. But the good news is that I still have time before the appointment to lose a little weight. I've been side tracked a little and stopped working out since yesterday. But I'm not beating myself up about it. That's actually a positive thing, because in the past, I would have threw in the towel when I didn't exercise and say to myself, "I'll start back next month". Difference is now, when I stop for a day, I get back up the next day and continue my workouts. I'm proud so far. I hope it gets better.

Today and the rest of the year(certain days), my Mom, Brother and his family and close relatives, have placed their bids in on what I should make for upcoming birthdays and holidays. Sometimes I feel like their the saboteurs, but their my family and I love them. And I don't mind making desserts. It's a hobby of mine and I love baking and decorating. When I'm not at school(I've taken a little break from college). What about you guys? Do ever bake desserts for birthdays, holidays or anytime of the year? Do you sometimes feel like the desserts are tempting?

    WTG for honoring the commitment to yourself. One of my mantras is "every moment is a chance to begin anew. " We don't have to wait, we can begin again right now. I didn't exercise yesterday morning, so I went to the pool last night.
    I have cut way down on my baking and have starting showing my love by offering experiences. For her birthday, my sis and I went to the art museum to see a Tiffany exhibit.

    Sure I still make stuff, but try to find healthy stuff to bring in balance, reduce frequency and amount of treats. Sure it is fun to create, but now I find creative ways to have fun together.

    I like to bake once a year at Christmas time. I will bake my favorite cookies and take them along for the family Christmas dinner, eat what I want and leave the rest. I see nothing wrong with baking those special treats for your family members, just make a plan and work them into your calorie allowance by cutting down on what you eat a few days ahead of time. Portion control is key. You might even confide in the person you have baked for that you want them to portion your slice out to you so you don't have to go near it again. I found that if I have Thoms1 cut my slice and give her specific instructions about keeping me away from it it is a great reminder of my successful journey. She's a jewel! Good luck and enjoy!     Also if and when I fail I make a point of dusting those crumbs off and getting right back on track!

    Sure I bake desserts for get together s and yes they are very tempting but we don't have get together everyday or every week so I plan for what I am going to eat and that includes cakes and pies, bars and what not. We always have to remember portion control. emoticon
