Restart needed

I am so disgruntled! I weighed in this afternoon at the clinic and discovered I have gained ten pounds back over the summer, about what I lost all last year. Grrr! I knew I wasn't paying enough attention, but swam every day and felt so good I was able to cut back on my meds for several weeks. Now the honeymoon is over, the weather has changed, the pool has closed, I am so stiff and sore I could barely mount the elliptical and hardly get it to move. With monumemtal effort I stayed on it for 22 minutes and managed to complete one circle on its screen, the equivalent of one quarter mile. Last Spring I was doing 30 minutes at a session and completing over a circles, half a mile. I have so far to go just to get back to where I was! Something has sent my body into a flare. Every move I make hurts, and takes seemingly forever. I did feel better after exercising, tho, hard as it was. This past 10 days I have neglected that, driving too much and moving too little. I did hike some in Yellowstone with my son and granddaughter one day, which was wonderful, of course, so glad I went, even if briefly. But the rest of the week was spent driving or in sit down classes, stressful. I did swim once at the motel, but motel pools are for relaxing, not working out. I could not do my exercises effectively in it. Anyway, changes are obviously needed. Exercise has to be put back as priority, even in this harvest season. And all the little "treats" that have crept back into my diet have to go. The calories I burn thru exercise are cut in half when I cannot swim, as nothing else I can do burns calories with near that intensity. Must cut back at the table, whether hubby likes it or no. Sigh... emoticon

Every single day we have an opportunity to start over. Today is your day. Start with baby steps until you build the strength to add up more changes into your life.
As Indygirl says: little movements are the preparation for big ones. Little changes are a lot better than nothing.
