Before and after starting SparkPeople

Blogging is really not my thing but beacause I need to do this for my WIO challenge here goes.
Before joining SparkPeople I had never given much thought to how or what I was eating or exercising. I had done diets off and on and would lose a little but soon get bored with the restrictive eating and put it all plus more back on. When I went over 200 lbs I finally decided it was time to really look at how to lose weight permenantly and get healthier. Diabetes runs in my family and I had gestational diabetes with my second pregnancy. I didn't want that to be my future. Again I tried some other programs and diets but failed regaining everything I lost. When I started working again in 2004 I was again up to 200+. Then I found SparkPeople.
It was free and I decided to give it a try. Around the same time I also bought a Wii and Wii Fit.
I began exercising every morning, at first only for about 10 min/day. I joined some teams and started doing challenges. All of these have helped begin to enjoy exercising and learn to eat healthier. I wanted a plan that would help but not eliminate any one food group as I knew that would lead to feeling deprived and really wanting the banned foods. I have learned and am still learning to eat in moderation and look for healthier alternatives to some foods. One of the first things I did was to stop drinking so much diet soda and now I mostly drink water.
Originally I had thought I should set my goal weight at about 130 which is what I was at when I was married but with the help of some good friends have realized that is not realistic. I consider myself in maintenace now after having lost 60 lbs.
