Whole 30 - Round Two - Day Two
Tuesday, October 22, 2013
I have discovered today a problem with doing a second round of Whole30 - I assume I know what the rules to Whole30 are because "I've done this before" and inevitably end up doing "no-no's".
It wasn't coffee today. Today I had my two cups of coffee before noon and had nothing with caffeine after. I did however have a glass of Silk Original Almond milk, which is a "no-no". Mostly because it is lightly sweetened with cane sugar. I learned this because as I was enjoying the milk it dawned on me, "I don't think I drank this last time..." and behold, I was on the Whole9 site looking in the forums and discovered my error. I also discovered that the Unsweetened Silk Almond Milk is OK to use in coffees and such, yet, is "frowned" upon to drink it. I assume because the Whole30 is all about "eating nutrition" and not attempting to drink it.
Today has also left me feeling "foggy" in the brain this late afternoon/evening. I don't know if it's from the lack of carbs/bread or decreased caffeine intake, or both, however, I'm hopeful it will pass soon. Because frankly - it sucks. I have this headache that's too dull to warrant taking any medications with caffeine in them (because all the headache medications I buy do have caffeine in them which seems dumb to take if I'm coming down off of a caffeine addiction) yet is enough to be a pain that makes me want to sleep all day.
So how did the day go?
Breakfast - same as yesterday. The joy of a casserole.
Lunch - Same as last night - the joy of cooking double batches at night so the next day's lunch is all set. Also an apple.
Dinner - Normandy blend vegetables, sweet potato, turkey burger with no bun, sauteed onions in a spice mix my husband came up with, diced tomato, homemade mayo.
Plus the oops-my-bad almond milk.
Even though I didn't get up in time to exercise, my plan is to finish up this report, finish my herbal caffeine free tea, and get in bed early to try try again tomorrow. Also secretly hoping the caffeine/carb flu whatever it is results in me sleeping better. A good night's sleep would totally make it worth it. Especially if I can get up in the morning to workout. We shall see.
