Whole 30 - Round 2 - Day 4
Thursday, October 24, 2013
This is harder than I thought it would be.
Right now I am sitting on the sofa fighting hard the urge to walk into the kitchen and get an ice cream sandwich I know is in the freezer.
Or go out to buy some chips and sour cream.
Or a bagel.
Or yogurt.
Or just eat the cheese in the fridge.
Is this the food addiction part? Is this the carb-flu part? Is this me fighting my self-control part?
I don't know. Today, has truly, been the HARDEST day thus far for me and staying on the plan.
And then.
I failed at staying on the plan.
Again by "accident".
I ate some of those snap-pea snacks, and after eating my serving I checked the back of the bag where they gave me a nice little story explaining how they were legumes. Drat.
Oh well. The good news? Even with my little ooopsie's, the hubs sugars were down again this morning! If they drop again tomorrow by the same amount, or even over the next two days slowly, his sugars will be back within the normal range we are gunning for. To see his sugars come down so dramatically in just four days is very encouraging.
Food Today?
Breakfast - 2 eggs scrambled and mixed in with fresh spinach, tomato, and bell peppers.
Lunch - Boiled chicken, spring mixed veggies, broccoli, cauliflower, and bell pepper. Homemade mayo used as a light dressing.
Dinner - slow cooked pork roast, shredded in it's natural juices, butternut squash mixed with a little olive oil, and the "oopsie" snap-pea snack.
OH - and in complete honesty, I also had another glass of Almond Milk. *small look of shame*
I KNOW I KNOW! This isn't a *true Whole30* because I willingly drank the Almond Milk after knowing it was not approved.
Honestly, my hope was it would keep me from going into the kitchen and eating anything sweet and processed I could find. And it did help. That and more water.
Why did I think the second time around would be easier? I'm not sure. I wish it were, however, I'm beginning to think it's harder.
Exercise Today - I skipped the Power90 because I helped unload a cord of wood (I think that's the correct term). I am certainly stronger than I once was because I could feel my biceps working and the strength in my arms carrying the wood that last year was nearly impossible. Last year I was carrying two to three sticks at a time, maybe four. This year I carried six, and feel like I could have carried seven. That was AWESOME.
I also then hauled trash and cleaned half of our basement. Push broom style. Some heavy lifting. Absolutely worked up a sweat because I was working hard and fast. By the time that was all done I was STARVING for dinner, so I decided to call it on any additional exercise.
Now my goal is to stay out of the kitchen for the rest of the night. Enjoy my water, maybe have a cup of tea, and relax. Have some quiet reading/prayer time. Looking forward to a good night's sleep and getting the hubs to do cardio with me again tomorrow.
