Returning to exercise

After struggling with knee pain, I have found the combination of treatments for it so I can return to working out. The x-rays showed some moderate arthritis in my knee and hands. I had one cortisone shot in my knee and now use voltaren gel and 650 mg of Tylenol. Then I donated my at home exercise bicycle and joined an fitness gym. I love their zumba classes and I am using their personal trainer new member special to find some equipment and exercises to use at the gym. While walking on the track, I met a retired teacher friend to walk with some of the time. I tried their water aerobics, but didn't like it as much as I still had knee pain. I love getting out of the house and listening to my tunes on my iPhone as I exercise.

I feel so much better exercising again after a few months of pain just from walking. So now I hope to meet my 1000 minutes of fitness each month again.

    Great to keep looking for something that you CAN do while dealing with your arthritis pain. It's good to keep up with the exercise, even if you have to modify your workout somewhat, and getting help from a trainer might just be what you need.

    I hear ya on the knee pain but we have to just keep finding new ways to workout with our knees your doing great that you found new exercise ideas just take it slow and you will do great - we just have to move in different way to workout but we can do this - so glad you didn't give up

    It can be hard to exercise with pain or after an injury. a trainer can be helpful to show you proper form to challenge yourself but not cause more pain.

    So glad you have found exercises that you can do! I also have arthritis in the hands and knees, but exercise actually helps me a lot (after I get over the initial stiffness)

    That's great that you found some exercises that you can do. Sorry that you are having such pain but glad that you've had some relief from it. One more year and I'll be back in Omaha and we can do some mall walking again. I don't walk far without having my leg or legs feel like lead but I try to do some walking anyway. Often when I use my blue shampoo I think of YOU. :-)
