WE LOVE SECRETS
We love secrets! When it comes to knowing something about someone else that no one else knows, we will stop whatever we are doing to listen. We love hearing about someone who has had troubles and how they handled things…or so they say. Whoever “they” is. However, sometimes we don’t really know if those secrets are really true. In reality, however, we all have secrets of our own. We have things we do that we hope that NO ONE ever finds out about. But God knows and we will be judged for every hidden thing we do.
Ecclesiastes 12:14 “God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.” (NLT)
Dear Lord, help us to be cautious about sharing secrets about others. Help us to focus more on the secrets we carry in our hearts. Reveal to us what we need to change and forgive us for any bad things we have done. Show us how we can be better Christians for You in helping others to stop being so eager to share the secrets of others. Show us how we can remind others that we all have secrets and we should tend to our own rather than stirring up the secrets of others. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We all have secrets. It is best to keep our own and the secrets of others so there is less dissent and judgment in the world.
Those who are eager to tell the secrets of others are probably telling your secrets as well.
Be careful who you tell private things to. There are people who are eager to share your secrets so they can draw attention to themselves.
What we say about others should be encouraging and something we wouldn’t mind publicly sharing with the world.
If we have to tell things in secret, then we probably shouldn’t say anything at all.
The power of the tongue can hurt people just as if they had been stabbed with a sword.
Psalm 57:4 “I am surrounded by fierce lions who greedily devour human prey—whose teeth pierce like spears and arrows, and whose tongues cut like swords.” (NLT)
