Personal Space, Getting Away When Needed...

Monday, November 25, 2013

My name is Yvette and I am an addict...lol! I have an addiction to purchasing fitness DVD's. It started about 20 years ago when I worked for a wonderful law firm in Houston, Texas. It was XMAS time and the Admin Staff was doing the annual gift exchange thing. The girl that pulled my name asked me what I wanted and I told her that I would love the new Denise Austin HIPS, BUTT and Thighs video (1993). She gave it to me and I was thrilled! I did that video a few times a week and couldn't wait to buy my next one. Back then I was a very curvy 130 pounds and my plan was to incorporate some exercise several times a week by using 3-4 different videos. WELL, over the course of several years my library has grown and so has my butt (Lol)...I now have a whopping 200 plus DVD's...lol! I have created my own little personal workout room in my house with all of the things I have collected over the years. Its my personal space, a place where I can go to just "chill-lax" by myself whenever I want. I often light my candles and put on a relaxing CD in my old school stereo and I just drift away. I have recently discovered how WONDERFUL Yoga is and sometimes I pop in a DVD and do that as well. It brings INSTANT relaxation to my mind and body, its truly amazing! When I am up there my hub knows not to bother me unless its an emergency. Sometimes I am working out and sometimes I'm just in my zone. We all need to get away sometimes. What do you do to "quickly chill-lax" and get away from it all.

I live alone for now but plan to move in with my boyfriend soon...when I do, we both agreed that we had to have our personal space...so he will have his "man cave" and I will have a room to get away from it all...it's very important that we do that!!!

Make your own space, it can be in a corner in your house. Start with a couple of inexpensive things that you can use, videos are cheap and easy. Or just use the videos here on Spark. Consistency is the key. So I am jumping back into Spark to keep me motivated to stay on track. I'd really like to get certified this year to become a health and fitness coach so that I can work with women my age! I am 52 years old and I feel pretty good, but if I want to help other women, I have to reach my goals first! I need to loose about 30 pounds and tone my lower half up. I am NOT a lover of the extreme exercise programs so I love Pilates, Gentle Yoga, Resistance Training and Cardio that doesn't make me feel like I am dying. My body responds very well to it, I just need to stay consistent. I think women my age shy away from that beat'em up type of exercise and honestly you don't have to do that to get in good shape. So I'm in it to win it! My background pic is Ernestine Shepherd! I LOVE her, she is my SHE-RO! She didn't get started until she was well into her 50's! She and her sister decided that they would embark on a journey to get healthier but shortly after they started her sister passed away. In honor of her sister she decided to keep it going and she did! Now she is all over the place, teaching, speaking, and competing. She's even in the Guinness Book of World Records! emoticon
