Freely Given

Monday, December 23, 2013

The gifts that I give are freely given. I do not go back and make use they are being used as I wished. People HATE gifts that the giver tries to control.
"Freely you have received, freely give." However, when I give see that one of my handmade quilts is not properly cared for, I do not make a second one for that person.

Today is my cleaning day.
My family Christmas starts on Christmas Eve, and continues until New Year's Eve. Then on January 2, life as a school teacher resumes.

There's actually a name for it in academia: "Being grandmotherly" after all those gifts that came with strings attached. Glad to see that yours are freely given! Peace on earth, good will to men.

I feel that way about gifts as well, the ones I give and receive! And I can see not giving something similar to someone again who didn't cherish the first one (like the quilt neglecter), if it's not their thing, it's not their thing!

    Enjoy your holiday break! emoticon

Recently at the Post Office sending my Christmas cards~this thought came to me. I was reaching out to a lost friend, and the clerk noticed, "there is no return address on this one"....I sighed and said "yeah, I'm not so sure they will want to receive it when they see it's from me" She looked at me all quizzical and I left it at that.....I hope the card is received in the manner it was intended.

I have never been a school teacher but I did teach school of religion. I also did cub scouts. I read to the class of kindergarden children when my gs was little and 3rd grade when my gd was in it. That is the extent of my teaching, but the teachers always asked me if I taught, so maybe I missed my calling. LOL

I love to write and have written many. As for gifts, I now give money because they love it and you not have to go to the store to exchange it.

I know the feeling of buying something and then they do not like it and try not to show it, but next time you see them you never see it again. And who doesn't love money? LOL

Today is my cleaning day also! I absolutely agree with you about giving freely. Have a blessed holiday. I serve two Christmas dinners because our family is so large...we have to divide them into two parties. emoticon

Yes, I don't like how some "giving" has become like "Christmas payment". I like - love - to give with great consideration as to what is being given ("it's the thought that counts"). My first mother-in-law was very materialistic though, and it wasn't as enjoyable. I think one of the best Christmas presents I gave along with my youngest daughter was a "Ben doll" to her brother that we conspired to make together. It was kind of a parody of how they tout the latest toys. We even made a box for it with the "cellophane" (plastic wrap) display and all the hype on the sides. He LOVED it (we're talking late teens).
I love gifts and giving from the heart.

If you made me a quilt, I'd certainly take proper care of it. I wouldn't even let my cats get near it. LOL

Have a wonderful time off. Teachers need it! Teachers deserve it!
