Almost a year later.....

Almost a year later and I am pretty much in the same spot. I have been up and down all year and never actually stuck with anything. It's so embarrassing to keep coming on here and saying this! In my defense this year has been a very busy year. I finished up my bachelors degree in May, which was awesome but it took a lot of time and stress. Over the summer I worked a couple of different jobs to make ends meet. I ended up getting a job as a special education math teacher at a high school near by. With this position I had to get another certification so that added to the busyness. In August I started my first year of teaching. Everyone always told me that my first year was going to be crazy and I never really understood until about September when I was drowning!

I didn't realize how hard of a job teaching was. I absolutely love it but it is one of the hardest things I have ever done. I was also thrown some curve balls which made it a little more difficult. At the school I work at the special education teachers share rooms because we have a few resource classes as well as team taught classes where we go and co-teach with a general Ed teacher in their room. Well in October the teacher that I was sharing a room with decided to up and retire in the middle of a Monday. To make a long story short I ended up taking on his resource classes which made me a resource teacher all day long. This also meant I had three preps to plan for on top of all of the special education paperwork. It took me until right before Christmas break to get organized again. I am still not planned very far because I am writing my own curriculum but I do feel a little better. I have an amazing department and I have lots of support which makes it easier but this has left little time to get into a workout regimen.

The hubby and I did start mountain biking in the spring. We started with cheap Walmart bikes which weren't very good. But we rode a lot and started really enjoying it. Once I started my job and my daughter started her competitive soccer league there was just not much time for bike riding. At the beginning of December we decided to get back into it and bought better bikes. With all the rain and holidays we haven't been able to ride too much until this past week. We love it and I am very excited to keep up with it. It's fun to have a hobby that both the hubby and I can do. Eventually the kids will be able to do it with us as well.

I just started P90X again on Monday. This will be the 3rd or 4th time I have started P90X. I have only completed it once but when I did I had awesome success. I am really hoping I can continue it this time.

We have gotten a lot better about eating better. We just struggle with quick dinners. We have a lot of late nights and need fast and easy meals. This is hard for us but I plan to work on getting more ideas.

I am definitely not trying to make excuses for myself but it has been hard to fit everything in. This year I plan to work on making health and fitness more of a priority!!

    You can spot your weaknesses and you know what is sidetracking you - but the biggest part is that you can admit to everyone. That right there takes a lot for some people to do. It sounds like you are finding a routine and it may take the whole school year, but I believe you'll figure it out. emoticon As for dinners, can you make some up that can be frozen? That way you just thaw and heat and voila! I do that with lasagna sometimes. Or maybe try meal planning - I tried this once and it just didn't work with hubby's crazy work schedule. Hang in there and keep pushing! emoticon

    Look at how far you DID get in one year: College? Done! Job? Got it! Obstacles? Overcome!

    There will be more ahead (especially for a special education teacher), but you're doing it. You're doing it. And that is fantastic!!

    I'm sort of with you on being about the same as last year. Ok, maybe not over the past few months. This past year, I've been maintaing (which I'm stoked about, honestly), but now that I've started ST again, I'm losing inches again - finally! I've had the ups and downs this year as well, but started going down again a few months ago. You got this!

    I'm sure you can do P90X! You can do it! Stick with it!!

    I haven't blogged in almost a year and I could write exactly what I wrote last year. Up and down a few pounds all year. I started WW online a couple weeks ago. I've lost 5 lbs, gained 2 over the holidays and got those off again. I just wanted a plan that I didn't have to think about for a while. I'm slowly getting back into exercise, but after being inconsistent for so longs it's hard to start over. I'm doing what I can because I know if I stick with it it will get better. You're in a tough spot with your first year of teaching. Just remember that if it starts off this tough it should only get better. I teach special ed. (elementary) too so I understand. Lots of paperwork!
