The Mystery of the Binge

Maybe it's not such a mystery after all. My allergies are going nuts, the stuff drains and causes my stomach to be very upset, I look for something to calm the stomach, nothing tastes good or helps the I keep searching and behold....the binge! I tried sticking with entirely healthy choices which actually made things worse.......go figure. In the past, cinnamon rolls and potato chips were the go to things to calm the situation down. There might actually be a physiological reason for that......sugar tames the reflex nerve at the opening of the stomach......the carbs absorb some of the yuck and the grease makes it flow out better. So I tried making a pot of steel cut oats with an apple and lots of cinnamon. This stuff is really great, but it did not do the trick. I tried making a spicy pot of hamburger go..... My husband went to the store and brought chips home. I ate some, it helped, I ate more and you know the routine, in 2 days the bag was empty. Due to gluten allergy I learned about late in life, cinnamon rolls are a no go, too. Nothing tastes good and nothing is helping so maybe ginger ale with chips isn't so bad until things settle down. I once lost 5 pounds drinking beer and eating chips for 10 days while my daughter was away with a youth group. (didn't feel like cooking for myself) And to add to the misery, my back is absolutely killing me. No warming up, stretching and working on it helped yesterday so had to finally break down and take some body hates me.............LOL
