Things could be worse! For some reason I am not sure how.

I got the call from my pulmonologist yesterday morning. The news wasn't what either of us expected. Seems that Big C has struck for a second time at me. The tumor is a melanoma (skin cancer). My pulmonologist referred me to an oncologist. I went to see him this afternoon. Afternoon a complete examination of my skin. The onocologist found a mole in the center of my back that is suspicious. He believes that it is the source of the original melanoma. You see it had to have mastized to spread to my lung. He suggests surgery to remove the tumor in my lung. The tumor is in a good place to make the surgery a success. I do have lung problems that could make surgery not a good idea. I am being referred to a dermatologist to remove the mole, referred to a surgeon for testing to see if I am a candidate for surgery.

All is not lost though my friends. The surgery is my best bet for a long life but not the only option. If I can't have the surgery then the doctor thinks that a round of 3 days of targeted radiation should do the trick. You see the tumor is very small 1.6 centimeters. The Pet Scan showed no other tumors at this time. He is scheduling me for a MRI to check leisions there.

The onocologist has a great personality and spent over an hour and half with me and my sister to help us understand what is going on. I am keeping my positive thinking and I believe I am in good hands.

I will keep you all in the loop. Though it seems that I won't be joining March's Challenge. I will try check in more often and let you know how things are going.

Thank you all for being my friends and the support you have been giving me.
