ThinkingThrifty thinking about clothes shopping

I love saving money while still looking great. Especially with grand kids who grow in and of clothes is a practical way to shop.
1. Make friends with your local used clothing shop owner.
2. Visit one a month, and make it known what items you are looking for.
3. Visit the shop even when you need nothing. Sometimes you find the nicest items when least expected!
4. Buy your accessories at the thrift shop. Jewelry, sweaters, jackets and boots to compliment a nice outfit for cheap is great!

Good will is my favorite shop for me.
In our little town of Hillsboro, NH, upside Daisies is the best Children's thrift store. I support them whenever I can by buying the accessories for Baby Lina's dresses.

And save the extra money for the things you really want to do! I love bargains and second hand clothes if they look good. My son like to spend a lot on clothes. I would rather spend my money on hiking or nature preserves or traveling cheaply or other things I want to do than to spend a fortune on clothes

LOVE my trips to Good Will and St. Vincent DePaul. LOVE being able to both donate AND buy.

My daughter grew up loving thrift shops. She abhorred the current fashions and colors and chose to wear her own style. I was so proud of her!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon m

LOVE the pic! My oldest DD could put an entire outfit together at the local thrift shop. She always had a good eye for bargains!

I buy scarves and jewelry when travelling - inexpensive mementos of where we've been! Plus they always fit in my luggage!

I love Goodwill!! When I reached my weight goal I went shopping and bought lots of new pants and summer shirts. All really nice things and some even with the tags still on!! Pretty much the only place I shop. Funny story about Goodwill. A few years ago hubby and I were in Phoenix for hubby's work. We were his co-worker and co-worker's wife. While the husbands went to work, co-worker's wife and I were going into Phoenix to sightsee. First though we were going to the visitor's center. At one traffic light with lots of shopping centers at the corners, we both spied a Goodwill store and at the same time both of us shouted Goodwill!! The Goodwill store was on the left and we were in the right hand lane. Co-worker's wife was driving so she turned right and came back up at the light and we spent the morning shopping in Goodwill. Goodwill...Good times!!

    Happy St. Pat's Day!!!

Amen to all of that! Our local 'Frenchys' gives a fashion show yearly now, in conjunction with the local school. They model the clothes, give us a nice lunch, and get money for their school trip each year. The people all love it, the kids love to model, and the local store also benefits. It is awesome what you can glean at these stores for pennies on the dollar of original cost!

If I had children/grand children I would go exclusively to yard/garage sales. The quality of the clothing is superior to what is being offered in the stores at a fraction of the cost. Even over the for profit thrift stores.
