The Backyard Animals

Thursday, April 24, 2014

Last time I wrote I talked about the Cranes and how the baby had grown. Now the baby is so big I sometimes confuse it for one of it's parents. It's baby brown fluff is now almost grey and it is getting a red tufted head. The Mother Crane built a new nest and has laded 2 more eggs. The first baby seems to be helping her around the nest.
Last evening I sat on the porch and watched 5 deer roaming the yard eating grass. There were 2 newborns, 2 Doe and a yearling from last year. The Cranes were also walking around, there was a row of turtles sunning them selves and the lake was full of mallards as well numerous other shore birds. The cats, what is left of them, were sunning themselves and watching all the other animals. I am so lucky to live here.
