"Hurt people hurt other people" That is so very true! And our responding, rather than reacting can be a contributor to their healing, as well as to our own. Sometimes we can ask about their pain. Sometimes we can be loving back to them ("turning that other cheek"). But forgiving and praying are two ways that neutralize the hurt, making it less penetrating and effective. May you continue to have the Lord's strength in these trying situations. 2052 days ago
1CRAZYDOG It's not easy. But that's the best ! It's better that way. We're not poisoning ourselves with resentment and hatred.

Cruel and negative people wear me out! The best thing for me is to just stay away from them. In your job, though, you cannot. Good attitude! At least know we're here for you to vent anytime! 2052 days ago
One also has to be ready to forgive - not saying "It's all right" because it isn't - but avoiding a build up of bitterness in our own lives. I went through a season where my son had turned against me, and at one point I let him know that, if I should die suddenly, I forgave him his cruel words - so that he wouldn't carry that remorse. In time he did repent and apologize for being an @$$. 2052 days ago
You are showing strength. I am sorry you are around negative people who are themselves insecure and who are attacking you. I am glad you are learning to stand up to them. Take care of yourself. 2052 days ago
I try to deal with haters with compassion. Sometimes they are hurt, but sometimes they are trained from birth to hate. Many times, learned hatred needs to be addressed or confronted. We would still be in the dark ages if no one took the stand against racism, sexism, religious persecution, etc. There is still much work to be done in combatting hate. Sometimes being silent about it is paramount to supporting it. I rely heavily on the serenity prayer; with an emphasis on 'the courage to change the things I can." 2052 days ago
