Last weekend was full of house cleaning, this coming weekend is just full of activities! My husband is riding down to see his step-mother (who just lost her mother and is not doing too well herself) with his brother on their motorcycles. Hubby made a deal with the oldest daughter, who is 13 and taller than my mother, that if she does well this week (no fighting with me, her sisters, helps when asked) that she can go with them. This will be her first long-distance (about 150 miles) ride on the bike, a full-dress Ultra Classic. They all have helmets, hers is a full-face, he's a really good/safe driver, and I'm not really worried too much. Before all the "OMG! I can't believe you will let her go on a bike!" comes out, she has been riding with her father since she was very young. At first, just on our dead-end road, and then on the bike with her father and her grandfather. She's very experienced. She's just never gone more than ten miles! They are riding from Jacksonville to Orlando and staying the weekend.
Meanwhile, Friday night, my co-leaders and I are going to finish shopping for our Girl Scout Tea Party! We have been working on this for the past couple of months and it's coming down to the wire. We have bought, borrowed, and used our personal china tea sets (tea pots and cup/saucer sets), have a couple of linen table cloths (have to use paper napkins and Chinet for the food plates), and everyone is to wear their finest Easter outfit and bring their manners. We will have tea, punch, water; cucumber sandwiches, other finger sandwiches, petit fours, and crudites. This will be held at the Broward House, which is an historic building in Jacksonville by the Kingsley Plantation. Saturday is day for the Tea Party, and we will be busy ALL DAY! My middle daughter is in the troop that is having the party, and my youngest daughter will be there, of course.
And, then Sunday is Mother's Day. We are going to my mother's house for a three-in-one. My sister's birthday was 05/05, and my birthday is 05/15, so we will be celebrating all three days together (as we do almost every year). I have no idea what my step-father will be cooking, he does all the prep, cooking, and clean up.
Next weekend is not any calmer, as we are going to Wild Adventures on Friday through Sunday with the troop. I need a vacation!
